Have you ever apologized to a camera?!
Digicams, dog strollers and an old Fort.... just a weekend in Coastal Virginia:)
This essay is, as usual…. picture heavy;) It may appear truncated in your email. Please click on “View entire message” and you’ll be able to view the entire post in your email app. Thanks!!
A couple of months ago, Razlyn at Finding Whimsy shared an essay with photos from her digicam the Canon PowerShot SD1000. Somewhere in my brain full of camera names and home inventory, I thought to myself “I think I have this one at home!!”. Sure enough, there she was, sitting in the back of a drawer in my desk. I took it out, apologized for not realizing what she could do, and I charged up the battery and took her out for a spin. I have to tell you; it’s a great little camera!! It may only by 7.1 mega pixels but she’s tiny and mighty:) Sometimes, I just don’t feel like taking my large canon DSLR out with me, this little camera is the perfect remedy to that. Expect to see a lot more images from it in 2025!

My husband and I keep a shared note on our iPhone titled; “Things to Do”! While the weather remains nice (i.e. not July and 100 degrees in the shade;) we’ve committed to taking one day of our weekends to check off a location on this list. It may be a physical place like a park or trail … or it might be a restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try out. We’ll scan the note and make a mutual decision on where to visit. It’s worked well for us over the years and the list keeps growing. As we cross off one spot, another almost always takes its place!
One of our favorite last minute weekend adventures is a jaunt to Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA!
For at least 400 years, the point of land known as Old Point Comfort that now includes Fort Monroe has served as the key defensive site at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
Due to its historical and cultural significance, Fort Monroe was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 and recognized as the Fort Monroe National Monument through an executive order signed by President Barack Obama in 2011.
We recently bought a doggie stroller for our senior lady, Gracie. She’s 15 and has one leg that gives her issues. We want to take her on adventures, but she can’t walk like she used to. So, we are those pet parents now and I love it! We packed her into the stroller, brought a water bottle for her and set off on a walk around the fort for a few hours. It was a gorgeous day, and we can highly recommend it for anyone in the 757 who is looking for something low-key to do on a weekend.

I hope you’re having a great week so far! It’s going to warm up considerably here in Coastal Virginia, so I’m planning a pedicure this coming weekend so I can start wearing my sandals this season!! Other than that, no definitive plans. Maybe we’ll consult the list … ;)
Till next time,
Jenn xoxo

These turned out really great! I love the idea of having a shared note in the family with "things to do ideas". I might borrow that from you and share with my bride.
We live just down the road from you I think, in Chesapeake. Honestly, I can say I have never stepped foot on Fort Monroe, but now I'd love to! It seems like a great day out with the kids 💪🏻 I try to take my big DSLR with me everywhere and even have a dedicated gear kid that I strap to every backpack we bring with us. It can be clunky though. I've been leaning towards a point and shoot that I'm not afraid to beat up and will carry easier on smaller scale adventures. You and Razlyn have made up my mind. The hunt is on!
